Women's Bowling Wraps Up Competitive Field At Flyer Classic

LOCKPORT, Ill. – Following a three-week hiatus, the UIndy women's bowling team competed in the Flyer Classic, finishing 24th of 26 teams. 

Taylor Stace highlights the individual finishes, placing 35th of 171 bowlers. Alyssa Cash finished 60th, and Aly Luna-Asano ended 63rd in the individual standings. 

INS AND OUTS
The competitive three-day event started with five Baker Match Play games, where the Hounds totaled 4,212 pins. UIndy's first match went down to the wire with St. Anselm, but the Hawks ultimately prevailed 762-758. The following match, UIndy fell to RV Wisconsin-Whitewater 938-849. 

The Hounds finally got into the win column against Elmhurst, topping the Bluejays 885-849. In their next match against Belmont Abbey, UIndy's 165.8 average wasn't enough to skate past the Crusaders's 879. UIndy finished Baker Match Play with No. 2 Vanderbilt University, where the Hounds' match-high 891 total team pins didn't pace the Commodores, falling 1,020-891. 

Saturday's competition held five traditional games, where UIndy went 0-5 against five ranked opponents with a total pinfall of 4,511. Stace not only had the highest game score of 236, but the strongest average, which was a 197.6. Cash ended with 938 total pins, eclipsing the 200+ mark twice. Luna-Asano finished with 925 pins, with a high of 215. 

In the event's ultimate day, The Hounds competed in Baker bracket play, playing best of seven matches. In the first round, UIndy took down Aurora in six games with a total of 1,075. Following the winning performance, the Hounds took two games off Marion before falling 1,016-1,082. In six. The Hounds took 24th in the bracket after falling to Aurora in five games, with the final score being 798-845.

The Greyhounds will play in the Hoosier state for the first time of the new year, competing in the Hoosier Classic at local Royal Pin Western this Saturday, Feb. 14.
