CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The No. 26 UIndy women's tennis team was outpaced by No. 7 Catawba 4-0 on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds were unable to secure a win in either singles or doubles play, with Catawba capturing the victory after winning two doubles matches and three singles matches.
INS AND OUTS
Catawba secured the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. It started with No. 21 Rin Igarashi and Sofia Antolini blanking Silvia Zappoli and Liza Simak at #2 doubles. The pair of #4 Lili Drukerova and Ami Miya defeated #37 Maelys Thiery-James and Magda Kornijczuk 6-2 at No. 1 doubles to seal up doubles play.
Catawba continued their strong performance in singles, where #8 Antolini took down Thiery-James 6-1, 6-3. On court three, #19 Ami Miya added another point for Catawba, overcoming #73 Kornijczuk with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. At No. 5 singles, Katya Kldiashvili secured a straight-set win over Linya Chen, 6-2, 6-4 to take the match.
