CEDARVILLE, Ohio — The No. 9-ranked UIndy softball team had a successful doubleheader at non-conference Cedarville University Wednesday afternoon, winning the first game, 5-4, and dominating the second game, 8-0. The Greyhounds showcased their resilience and offensive power, holding off the late charge by the host Lady Jackets in the first game before quickly wrapping up game two with a run-rule victory.

Now sitting at 28-2 on the season, UIndy heads west this weekend to face Southwest Baptist University on Saturday followed by a stop at Drury University on Sunday.
GAME 1 | UIndy 5, Cedarville 4
In the first game, the pivotal scoring innings came in the fourth and fifth.
Christina Stankus hit a crucial double to right center in the fourth, driving in
Sydney Oliver and
Maya Rodriguez to give UIndy a 2-0 lead. The offense continued to roll in the fifth as Rodriguez doubled to left center, bringing home
Cheyenne Eads and
Josie Jager, followed by Oliver's single that added another run, exiting the inning ahead 5-1. Cedarville answered back in the sixth with a three-run surge, including a two-RBI triple, but the Greyhounds held on for the one-run win.
Eads delivered a complete-game performance in the circle, pitching all seven innings and allowing four earned runs on seven hits, with four strikeouts. Her impressive season record improved to 14-1. Rodriguez was instrumental offensively with two hits, including a double, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Jager also made an impact, reaching base three times with two hits and a walk, contributing one run. Stankus added a double, two RBIs, and a stolen base, along with a walk.

Pitcher
Caitlin Bunte shone for the Greyhounds in the circle, spinning a two-hit shutout against the Lady Jackets. The freshman hurler issued no walks and struck out two, facing just four over the minimum. Her efficient outing required only 64 pitches, including 43 strikes, showcasing her control.
Offensively, UIndy came out strong from the start. In the top of the first,
Cara Cooper walked and scored on a single by Jager, while Eads crossed the plate on a fielder's choice by
Maya Rodriguez, giving the Greyhounds an early 2-0 lead. The second inning saw UIndy widen the gap with additional runs from
Shelby Cook,
Brooklyn Willis, and Eads, alongside RBIs from Rodriguez and Oliver, culminating in an 8-0 lead. The Greyhounds maintained their defensive prowess, holding Cedarville scoreless to secure the shutout victory.
Eads led the offense with two runs and two RBIs. Rodriguez added to the scoring with two RBIs, while Willis contributed with one run, one hit and a ribbie.
