Greyhounds Breeze Past Lakers 6-1

INDIANAPOLIS – In their regular-season debut at the UIndy Tennis Center, the No. 9 men's tennis team defeated Roosevelt 6-1. The Greyhounds advance to 6-2, while the Lakers fall to 3-7. 

After making quick work of in the opening doubles action, UIndy continued to up the bill in singles, winning five of six singles matches. 

INS AND OUTS
The Hounds were on the board first in doubles after Asier Ayllon Prado and Mathieu Derache, the No. 19 doubles pairing in DII, routed Jules Rumeau and Justus Peters 6-2. The No. 49 team in the nation, Zaid Shelbaya and Tadeo Gaggiofatto, sealed the opening point with their 6-2 win at #2 doubles. 

The Greyhound dominance continued in singles, beginning with Jovan Matovic on court #3, after he breezed past Chakib Madcur 6-2, 6-2. Mathieu Derache posted the next winning result, after he won by opponent retirement after winning the first set and up a break in the second.

Ayllon Prado, ranked No. 9 in DII singles, had a narrow 7-6 first set against Peters, but reigned superior in the second, going on to win 6-2. 

Shelbaya continued to up the score for the Hounds, as he dished Singh a bagel and breadstick in #4 singles to keep an unblemished 2-0 singles record on the year. 

Vladislav Gorbatenko called the curtains on the afternoon, as he rolled through Lluc Mascaro Sierra 6-4, 6-1 at court #5. 

UP NEXT
The Hounds will head south for Chattanooga, Tn., where they begin a three-game road stint with Tennessee Wesleyan, the No. 2 team in NAIA rankings.
