No 15 Men's Tennis Outlasts No. 16 Wayne State 4-2.

DETROIT – For the fifth time this season, the No. 15 UIndy men's tennis team defeated a top-20 ranked opponent, downing No. 16 Wayne State 4-2. The Greyhounds improve to 9-4, while the Warriors slide to 13-14.

After conceding the doubles point, UIndy overpowered Wayne State in singles play, coming back from a 2-0 deficit by winning four of five singles positions.

INS AND OUTS
The Warriors came out of the gate hot in doubles play, taking wins at #1 and #3 doubles. Benjamin Hill and Tom Wasner opened the action with a 6-2 win over Lorenzo Di Cursi and Jovan Matovic on court three. They clinched the opening point with a win from Luis Klaus and Henry Forsyth, who downed No. 48 Asier Ayllon Prado and Mathieu Derache

Wayne State continued their early momentum in singles play, gaining a 2-0 lead after Wasner defeated Zaid Shelbaya 6-1, 6-2 at #5 singles.

UIndy's comeback effort was initiated by Di Cursi, who put the Hounds on the board with 6-4, 6-4 win over Forsyth at #6 singles.

The match was leveled at 2-2 after a gutsy win from Derache at #3 singles over Thomas Mathys. UIndy's senior leader took both sets in gritty tiebreakers, winning the first set breaker 11-9, and the second set 7-4.

The Hounds regained the lead following another hard-earned win from No. 15 Ayllon Prado, who outpaced Day 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 on court #1.

UIndy sealed the match with a comeback win from Matovic at #4 singles. After dropping the first set to Hill 6-3, the freshman rallied back with a 6-1 win in the second, and closed the afternoon with a 6-4 win in the ultimate set.
