Former Greyhound Jordan Tiegs enters his second season on the UIndy staff in 2013.  A native of Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, Tiegs works with the Greyhound pitchers and also helps with recruiting.

The young pitching coach's resume is already an impressive one.  Tiegs mentored a 2012 UIndy pitching staff that set a new program record for shutouts (11, one of which was a no-hitter), while ranking second in the school annals in strikouts (425).  The team ranked 18th in the nation in earned run average (3.27) to help the Greyhounds to 46 wins and their second-ever NCAA Division II Championship appearance.

In addition, Tiegs mentored future-professionals Donovan Drake and JaVaun West.  Drake, a 2012 ABCA All-American and Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year, went on to sign with the Atlanta Braves organization, while all-region hurler West continued his pitching career in the independent Frontier League.

A former MLB draft pick himself (Cincinnati Reds, 2006), Tiegs spent his senior season pitching for UIndy and Head Coach Gary Vaught.  As a weekend starter, he struck out 81 batters in 83 innings pitched to help the 2009 Greyhound staff set a program record with 516 total strikeouts on the year.  The Hounds finished the season 43-21 and came just one win shy of a regional championship and an appearance in the D-II College World Series.

Tiegs also pitched a season at Dvision I College of Charleston (2008) and two years at Sauk Valley Community College (2006-07).   During the latter stop, he played for current UIndy Assistant Head Coach Al Ready where the two helped SVCC to back-to-back conference championships and a sectional title.  Tiegs was a two-time all-conference selection for the Skyhawks, as well as an academic all-conference honoree.

Tiegs played for the Canadian Junior National Team and won a national bronze medal before attending college in the States.

After graduating from UIndy, Tiegs went on to play professional baseball, spending two seasons in the Frontier League with the Evansville Otters (’09) and the Oakland County Cruisers (’10) before suffering a season-ending injury.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications–Public Relations in 2010, along with a minor in Business Administration.  He is currently working towards his MBA.
