Liz Wacienga enters her first year as a part of the UIndy Athletics staff in 2020-21, joining the Greyhounds in March 2021 as Sports Information Director.

In her position, Wacienga serves as the primary and secondary media contact for a portion of UIndy’s 23 varsity sports.  She produces and coordinates content for the athletics website, reports official NCAA statistics and generates content for the department’s social media platforms.

Prior to UIndy, Wacienga spent over four years as the Director of Athletic Communications and Senior Woman Administrator at former GLVC member Kentucky Wesleyan College where she was the first female Athletic Communications professional in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

While at Wesleyan, Wacienga served as the daily primary media relations contact for the 21 NCAA Division II varsity teams.  During Wacienga’s tenure, the Panthers added four sports to their line up in men’s and women’s bowling, men’s tennis and wrestling.

In her first year at Wesleyan, Wacienga launched the Great Midwest Digital Network that live streamed athletic events for the first time in school history.  Wacienga also oversaw a pair of website redesigns with website provider SideArm Management in spring 2017 and summer 2020. Under Wacienga’s supervision, Kentucky Wesleyan Athletics social media platforms finished the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school year ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II out of over 300 institutions according to D2socialmedia.com.

With the Panthers, Wacienga hosted seven conference tournaments and the 2019 Division II Women’s Golf East Regional.  Wacienga covered five NCAA postseason Championships in men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball.

Wacienga also held multiple roles in the G-MAC conference office, serving as the chairperson of the Awards Committee as well as the Sports Information Liaison to the Joint Council.

Prior to Wesleyan, she spent two and a half years at The College at Brockport, located outside of Rochester, NY, where she assisted the Director of Athletic Communications and Media Relations in overseeing 23 NCAA Division III athletic programs. 

While at Brockport, Wacienga hosted nine conference championships, one National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III women’s volleyball Regional, and one National Championship with the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association.  She covered the 2016 women’s lacrosse journey to the Sweet 16 as well as the 2016 women’s volleyball Sweet 16 appearance.  Wacienga also coordinated and implemented a social media campaign which catapulted Brockport men’s basketball to No. 1 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays in January of 2016.

Wacienga spent three seasons working for the Rochester Red Wings, the Triple A Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, where she was the Field Timing Coordinator and TrackMan Operator.  She also was a member of the Rochester Press-Radio Club, an organization that has donated over one million dollars to numerous charities in the Greater Rochester area since its inception in 1950.

The Fairport, N.Y. native is an active member of Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), serving on the Goodness and Wellness Committee and overseeing the #Volunteer15 program.  Wacienga is also a member of Women Leaders in College Sports (WLCS).

Wacienga graduated cum laude from the State University of New York College at Cortland with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management in December of 2014.  She worked in the Sports Information Department for three years, assisting with press box operations at football, ice hockey and baseball.
