Greg Stocks knows how to build lacrosse programs, that much is obvious.
After starting the UIndy men's lacrosse program from the ground up in 2015, Stocks has led the Greyhounds to eight winnings seasons, five NCAA tournament berths, and three GLVC titles, including an appearance in the 2019 national semifinal. UIndy became the fastest program to win multiple NCAA tournament games, downing Queens (NC) and Belmont Abbey in overtime to advance to the semifinal round.
Stocks was named USILA National Coach of the Year in 2019, in addition to the GLVC top honor. He also shared the league award in 2023.
UIndy also advanced to the national quarterfinals in 2021 as the No. 5 seed and 2023 as the No. 6 seed.
The British Columbia native has helped produce nine All-America recipients, including Kyle Basch, Drew Billig, Dougie Crawford, Brendan Hackl, Josh Jackson, Matthew Johnson, Jarod Kimble, Shawn Kimble, and Parker Kump.
Stocks led the Greyhounds to their first conference title in 2018, as UIndy downed Young Harris in the GLVC Championship Tournament final game. It was the first time the Hounds won double-digit contests, with Stocks leading the team to a regular-season final win at Limestone.
Prior to joining the Greyhounds, Stocks held a similar role at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, starting LEC's first-ever men's lacrosse program in 2007. He built the program from the ground up, and was responsible for all aspects of the team's development. Lake Erie claimed their first-ever ECAC title in 2014, a season after leading the Storm to their first NCAA tournament appearance.
Stocks is a 2006 graduate of Mercyhurst University with a bachelor’s degree in business. Upon graduation, he served as an assistant at Lycoming College where he was instrumental in the Warrior’s offensive game planning. He also served as an assistant for one season at Wingate University.
A native of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, Stocks played lacrosse at SUNY-Potsdam for two years and then at Mercyhurst for his final two seasons. As an attacker his senior season, the Lakers won the East Coast Conference (ECC) and were a national semifinalist.
Greg and his wife Jillian, along with their daughter, reside in Indianapolis with their dog Russell.
