Ned Moriarty enters his second year as a Graduate Assistant in 2022-23. Ned comes to UIndy from London, England and is pursuing a Masters in Sports Management.
Last season, Moriarty assisted the Hounds to a men’s GLVC Championship win and the women to a second-place finish. This is the fourth title for the men and fourth second-place finish for the women. Moriarty also assisted the women’s team to a program-record runner-up finish at the 2022 NCAA DII Championships and another third-place finish for the men.
Since arriving in Indianapolis, Moriarty has helped the UIndy swimming & diving program have their most successful season yet, and he has made it his mission to continue this success in search of a national title.
Prior to UIndy, Ned worked as part of the coaching staff at Indiana Swim Camps and has had the opportunity to assist with the coaching of both the college and IU Pro Team alongside Olympic and head coach Ray Looze.
Ned started swimming in 2005 at the age of 9 and progressed to training at the London Aquatic Centre Performance Program under Olympic and head coach Lisa Bates. Ned has trained alongside Olympians and competed at club, county, national and international competitions, qualifying for events such as the British Championships. In May of 2019, Ned set a Guinness World Record in a swimming relay event to raise money for mental health awareness within sport. Ned concluded his swimming after completing his undergraduate degree in Construction Management and Engineering from the University of East London. Ned has over 14 years of competitive swimming experience and has also written articles for SwimSwam News.
Outside of swimming Ned likes to develop his hobbies and passion for technology and playing the drums.
