Ryan Collins

Ryan Collins joins the University of Indianapolis for his first season in 2020-21. He works primarily with Coach Noble and the sprint group but also spends regular time with the distance/long-stroke and mid-distance groups each week. 

Collins spent the previous year with D-3 University of Mount Union in Alliance, OH. During this one season, he working with all training/stroke disciplines. The Men and Women’s teams had a combined dual meet record of 17-8, both teams placed 2nd in the OAC conference respectively, set 5 schools and 1 conference record, won 7 events at the conference, and had 9 runners-up. Two men earned their NCAA B Cut in 1650. During this time on deck with the Purple Raiders, Collins also pursued his Masters through Mount Union in Educational Leadership with a focus in Athletic Coaching. He will graduate in the Spring of 2021. 

Before joining the college ranks, Collins spent 3 years as an assistant at Jackson High School in Canton, Ohio. During this time Polar Bear student-athletes achieved success in and out of the pool. Over his time in Jackson, 20 swimmers were academic All-American’s, men’s and women’s teams achieved a combined 55-7 duel meet record, broke 21 school records, and sent 12 athletes on to compete at the NCAA level. Two men’s 200 freestyle relays also achieved All-American status. 

During his time as a high school coach, Collins spent time as a high school math teacher at various high schools in the Akron/Canton region, teaching primarily geometry and algebra II.
Collins got his first coaching experience working as an assistant with the Green YMCA Barracudas and USA club team, where he spent 1 year. 

Ryan is a native of Green, OH. He completed his undergrad at Kent State University, where he studied education for 7-12 mathematics, received a minor in mathematics, and his teaching license. Collins is an Eagle Scout.
