Ilona Serchenko is in her third season with the UIndy tennis program, and recently began her new role as Head Tennis Pro at the UIndy Tennis Center.
A season ago she was vital to the Greyhound men's and women's teams returning for their second consecutive NCAA "Sweet 16" appearances after winning their respective Midwest Regional tournaments. Serchenko was also part of the men's GLVC Championship, their first since 1995.
In 2014-15, she helped both programs reach their first-ever NCAA "Sweet 16" appearances. Under Serchenko's tutelage UIndy's Stephanie Hirsch was named GLVC Player of the Year and ITA All-American.
She joined the Hounds after a collegiate career that included stops at Division I schools McNeese State (2010-11) and North Texas (2012-13).
As a junior and senior, Serchenko helped lead the Mean Green to back-to-back Sun Belt Conference Championships in 2012 and 2013, earning a spot on the conference All-Tournament Team during the '13 run.
Prior to North Texas she played two years at McNeese State, tallying up a 26-11 record in the Nos. 1 and 2 singles slots during her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Serchenko is originally from Dneprodzerzhinsk, Ukraine, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from the University of North Texas, and a Master's degree in Strategic Leadership & Design from the University of Indianapolis.
