Michael Tenzer

Michael Tenzer just finished his second season with the UIndy tennis program as a graduate assistant coach.

He's been a part of UIndy's rise to the top of the conference and Midwest Region, helping the Hounds win back-to-back GLVC Championships while making the NCAA Tournament during both of his years. 

For his efforts, Tenzer was named the 2016-17 ITA Midwest Assistant Coach of the Year, as the Greyhounds climbed to No. 16 in the country. He mentored 2016-17 GLVC Men's Tennis Player of the Year, Arklon Huertas del Pino, as well as All-GLVC selections Nils Hoffacker and Christoph Drechsler.

Before joining the Hounds, he competed at the Division I level at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. He led the team to three Horizon League Championships in his four years, earning three spots in the NCAA tournament. Mainly playing at No. 1 Singles, he finished his college career with 92 singles wins. As a senior, Michael was ranked No. 77 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) national singles ranking and No. 40 in the ITA’s national doubles ranking. Michael received two Horizon League Player of the Year awards, nine Player of the Week awards, and two Scholar-Athlete of the Month awards. Additionally, he was named to the All-Horizon League first team for four consecutive years.

As a collegiate student-athlete, Michael studied business administration with emphases in Finance and Marketing and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. He was a member of the Student Finance Association, Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society in Business, and the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma.

A native from Neuried, Germany, Michael is pursuing a Master’s degree in business administration with emphasis in organizational leadership at the University of Indianapolis.
