Sara Kubuske

Sara Kubuske returns for her 10th year as the top assistant on Melissa Frost's 2019 staff. Kubuske is a 2007 graduate of fellow GLVC-member Wisconsin-Parkside. She has helped the Greyhounds win NFCA Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year honors on three separate occasions, and was recently named the 2017 Easton NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year for Division II.

Indianapolis has made the NCAA Tournament in each of Kubuske's first nine seasons on campus, as well as winning two GLVC championships and a Midwest Regional title. The Greyhounds are a combined 391-122-1 (.762) since Kubuske joined the staff.

In 2016, the Greyhounds racked up a stellar 51-5 mark, setting a program mark for winning percentage (.911) while capturing their second-ever GLVC crown.

After an appearance in the GLVC Tournament final in 2015, the Greyhounds swept through the Midwest Regional 2 and overcame a 0-1 deficit in the best-of-three Super Regional to punch its ticket to to the NCAA Division II Championship. The Hounds took the opening game of the “World Series” by besting eventual-national-champ North Georgia, 1-0, before dropping the next two decisions and finishing 48-15 on the year.

The Greyhounds concluded the 2014 campaign with a stellar 28-4 conference mark to win the GLVC East Division. The Hounds went on to win three games at the Midwest Regional 1 before falling to eventual Super-Region-champ Wayne State in the regional final.

From 2012-13, UIndy’s win percentage of .860 was the best in Division II, with its 104 wins over that span tied for first in DII.  Both seasons ended with the Greyhound coaches garnering Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year laurels from the NFCA.

Kubuske helped guide the 2013 club to the program’s first-ever No. 1 ranking from the NFCA, holding the top spot for the final six weeks of the regular season. The Hounds broke the school record for wins in a season (54), runs scored (401), team ERA (1.14) and longest winning streak (38), with the latter matching the third-longest total in Division II history.

In 2012, UIndy racked up an even 50 wins, including 33 in a row at one point. UIndy became a first-time NCAA Regional host after winning the program's first-ever Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship.

Prior to coming to UIndy, Kubuske served as a compliance graduate assistant and assistant softball coach at Bemidji State University. She received her Masters of Science in Sports Studies from Bemidji State in 2009.

A four-year softball student-athlete at Wisconsin-Parkside, Kubuske was a team captain and GLVC Academic All-Conference selection while a Ranger. She was also the Wisconsin-Parkside Female Academic Athlete of the Year as a senior, and was a Dean's List selection and an NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete.

Kubuske holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Sport and Fitness Management and a coaching certificate from Wisconsin-Parkside. The former Sara Anderson married Jere Kubuske in June of 2012. They have three children.
