Scott Fangman

Veteran track coach Scott Fangman is in his ninth season at the University of Indianapolis.

The GLVC "Coach of the Year" led his 2002 men's team to a 42-1 record and the first Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in school history. The school's last men's track conference title had been its Heartland Collegiate Conference crown in 1981.

Fangman's 2002 Greyhounds won both the Indiana Intercollegiate Little State and Jerry England Invitational titles for the second consecutive year.

Fangman is a three-time GLVC "Coach of the Year", having received the honor in 1997, 1999, and 2002. He works extensively with the hurdlers and horizontal jumpers.

Fangman came to U of I after 14 seasons as head track coach at Southport High School in Indianapolis. At Southport, Fangman's teams were ranked in the state for 12 consecutive years, finishing in the top 10 at the state meet five times. Fangman coached five individual state champions and three state runner-ups. Fangman's Southport teams posted an overall record of 490-152, winning two Marion County titles and a pair of sectional championships.

Fangman has a strong coaching staff with Giles Davis working with sprinters, middle distance, relays, and meet management, Greyhound cross country coach Kathy Casey directing distance runners, Dave Holman coaching throwers, and Rob Krastoska assisting.
