Two-time Greyhound wrestling All-American Alex Johns joins Head Coach Jason Warthan's staff in 2014-15 for his first year as an assistant coach at his alma mater.
Johns, who placed fifth as a junior and seventh as a senior at the NCAA Division II National Championships at 125 for the Greyhounds, was a three-time national qualifier at UIndy, while amassing 115 career wins. His win total is good for a tie for the fifth-place spot in the UIndy record books, while he also totaled 24 career pins, tied for 11th-best all-time in the Greyhound program.
A two-time Midwest Classic champion, Johns was also named the tournament's Michael Horton Most Outstanding wrestler as a senior. He also earned two Indiana Little State championships, and was the NCAA Division II Super Region #3 125 champion as a junior.
Johns earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from UIndy in May 2014. He is currently pursuing his master's in Teaching at UIndy.
