Joining the staff in August on 2026, Alex Preston brings a proven track record in collegiate athletics development, donor engagement, and strategic event management. In her role at UIndy, she will lead advancement initiatives, build key donor relationships, and expand philanthropic support for Greyhound student-athletes and athletic programs.
Preston came to UIndy following her tenure as the Athletics Development Graduate Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University. At VCU, she played an instrumental role in launching the 1-On-1 Scholarship program, which successfully engaged key donors to establish eight new endowed scholarships for student-athletes. Her responsibilities also included managing donor hospitality for men’s basketball games, authoring targeted fundraising proposals, creating marketing collateral, and planning the inaugural 1-On-1 Scholarship Program Dinner.
Prior to VCU, Preston gained extensive experience in athletic administration and communications at DePauw University. She served as a Student Assistant in Athletics Communications and as an Athletics Department Intern, contributing to event logistics for the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs and spearheading comparative conference research.
A dedicated student-athlete leader, Preston competed on the DePauw women’s tennis team and served as President of the Lambda Tau Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
