Cody Wainscott began his duties as Assistant A.D. for Creative Content and Digital Strategy in October 2025.
Wainscott will focus on showcasing UIndy student-athletes' stories through high-quality visual content, including graphics, video, and photography. While maintaining brand standards set forth by the University and athletics department, Wainscott will serve as the liaison to UIndy TV and GLVCSN broadcasts, as well as executing strategy centered around social media and digital promotion. Additionally, Wainscott will lead all media days for UIndy athletic teams, work with every program to maintain consistent messaging across social media platforms and work directly with the Communications and Marketing offices to elevate Greyhound Athletics to a new level.

In addition to maintaining the department's content calendar, Wainscott will assemble a team of creators to promote UIndy Athletics to the highest possible standard. With the department's focus on visual storytelling, Wainscott will work to merge the UIndy brand with the city's core of sports powerhouses, such as the Colts, Pacers, Fever, Indians, and Fuel, while making Greyhound Athletics synonymous with Indianapolis.
He also maintains his respective roles on the GLVC Diversity & Inclusion Committee and GLVC Scheduling Committee, as well as NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Regional Advisory Committee (RAC).
Wainscott returned to the UIndy athletic communications office in 2022, serving as Sports Information Director/Student-Athlete Support after previously being in an SID role from Sept. 2017 to Dec. 2020. He served as the primary contact for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, and women's triathlon, along with assisting as the secondary contact for women's volleyball.
In addition to his communications duties, Wainscott provided support to student-athletes with advising the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Wainscott was the Director of Communications for the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) where he promoted and handled communication efforts for all 24 sponsored sports. In addition to his communications duties, Wainscott served as the conference liaison for the sports of wrestling, men's lacrosse, and women's lacrosse. Wainscott also previously was a member of the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) for men's lacrosse during the 2021 season.
During his first three years in the Greyhound athletics department, Wainscott provided media coverage for five NCAA tournament teams, including the 2019 men's lacrosse program that became the fastest Division II school to win multiple games in the national tournament. Prior to the cancellation of all DII winter championships in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the UIndy men's basketball team was set to host the Midwest regional inside Nicoson Hall. Wainscott has been involved in several media outlet regional and national polls for multiple sports over the years, including D2SIDA men's basketball regional and national, Inside Lacrosse men's national, and NCBWA baseball regional.Â
Wainscott returned to the Circle City in 2017 after spending two years at Lindenwood University as an Athletics Communications Coordinator, handling duties for women's soccer, men's volleyball, softball, and swimming and diving. He also coordinated social media efforts on all platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.Â
Prior to Lindenwood, Wainscott was the Communications intern for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, where he worked directly with the Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communication for all media efforts. At the G-MAC, Wainscott wrote feature stories and weekly recaps, along with editing video for highlight packages.Â
Wainscott graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management from UIndy in 2015 and earned a Master's in Business Administration from Lindenwood in 2017. A native of Breese, Ill., Wainscott currently resides in downtown Indianapolis with his wife Jessica, daughter Hayden, and dog Dewey.
