University of Indianapolis Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Kim Pate announced the addition of Jake Berry to the UIndy Athletics staff. Berry will serve as the department’s Deputy Athletic Director and will oversee External Operations and Revenue Generation.
The role will provide senior-level leadership and support to the external operations and overall athletic department. A primary function of this position will be to oversee all non-donor related external revenue generation and head up the corporate relations strategy, ticket revenue, external rentals, and other potential new revenue streams. Berry will also provide leadership, coordination, and oversight of all external areas including corporate relations, marketing, athletic communications, and the game day experience. Given his unique background, Berry will also help oversee facility operations and will play a key role in helping lead future facility renovations and improvement.
"I am beyond excited to announce the addition of Jake Berry to our UIndy athletics administrative team," said Pate. "Jake brings a wide range of administrative experiences that will enable him to quickly elevate our external operations, external revenue, and fan and student-athlete experience. He will also help strengthen our brand and impact on the Indianapolis market and the communities we serve, while inspiring people to be a part of our Greyhound story.”
Berry comes to the Circle City after serving as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations at Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina. There he led all external revenue generating efforts including corporate partnerships, licensing, branding, ticket sales, facility rentals, camps, and other external opportunities. He also oversaw the daily operations of marketing, communications, creative services, facilities, and game operations.
Prior to his time at LR, Berry held the post of Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations at DI Appalachian State University after six years in various roles at his alma mater West Georgia.
“I can't thank Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Kim Pate enough for the opportunity to join one of the most well-respected Division II athletic departments in the country. Working alongside some of the best coaches and student-athletes in all of college athletics is a true honor. My family and I are so excited to be joining the Greyhound community!"
An award-winning administrator at LR, Berry earned several citations from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA), including “Best New Revenue Generating Idea”, “Sellout Campaign”, “Community Engagement”, and “Fundraising Campaign”.
He introduced new revenue streams and fan engagement initiatives at LR, including pregame social areas, in-game promotions, activations, and premium experiences. All told, he stewarded a corporate partner and external revenue portfolio of over half a million dollars that included unrestricted and restricted giving, sponsorships, media, licensing, facility rentals, gift-in-kind, and branding agreements.
Added Pate: “Jake is an exceptional, authentic, servant-minded leader who I have had the unique privilege of working with during my time at LR, and I know he will make an immediate impact on our UIndy student-athlete experience."
