Katie Christman joined UIndy Athletics in January 2024. She started as the department's Associate A.D. for Compliance before moving to her current role Senior Associate A.D. for Academic Success & Retention / SWA.

Christman leads the department’s academic success and retention efforts, providing secondary advising and coordinating academic support, degree audits and progress-toward-degree monitoring for all student-athletes, as well as partnering with campus resources and committees on retention efforts. 

She also serves as the primary liaison to faculty, campus partners, and student-affairs units to support student-athlete success, career readiness, leadership development, and student-athlete well-being. Christman also heads up student-athlete educational programming and help support the newly established Hounds Leadership Academy. 

Christman also provides senior level leadership and serve as the designated senior woman administrator. She serves as a core member of the senior administrative team and will help develop the strategic priorities for the department while providing sport oversight and helping with hiring of personnel. 

In her SWA role, Christman also provides advocacy for the Greyhound student-athlete experience and well-being. Christman assists with gender-equity planning and as a representative on the campus Title IX Committee. She serves as a representative of the University at the conference and national level. 

Christman’s background includes positions as Assistant Athletic Director at Butler University, Assistant Academics Coordinator at Ball State University, and Admissions Representative at Indiana Tech.

Katie earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Education in Coach Education and Athlete Development, both from Xavier University. Christman also played four years as a starter on the Musketeer Volleyball team while representing the team as captain on the student-athlete advisory board.

Christman, a native of Indy’s Southside, now resides in Carmel, Ind., and has three children.
