Steve Simmons joined the Greyhound family in the summer of 2026, taking over as the head coach of the UIndy men’s and women’s golf programs. The former Marian University headman and longtime Zionsville, Ind., coach and educator brings a wealth of experience and success at both the college and high school levels.
A two-time Crossroads League Coach of the Year, Simmons spent the previous three seasons leading the men’s team at crosstown Marian to its most successful stretch in program history. He guided the Knights to 17 tournament wins during his tenure, including three consecutive Crossroad titles. He capped his time at Marian with a program-record fourth-place finish at the 2026 NAIA National Championship.
In addition to his recent stint as a successful college headman, Simmons can draw from over three decades of experience as a high school head coach. The former president of the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association was the varsity boy’s golf coach at local Zionsville High School from 1994-2026, guiding Zionsville to four Hoosier Crossroads Conference championships while earning HCC Coach of the Year laurels in 2011, ‘15, ‘18 and ‘21. He mentored the 2013 IHSAA state champion in Adam Wood, who went on to earn All-ACC and All-America Scholar honors at Duke University.
