Jason Reed

Jason Reed completed his 12th and final season as the head coach for UIndy volleyball in 2024, having compiled a 201-156 (.563) overall record. He led the Greyhounds to 10 GLVC tournaments, as well as appearing in three NCAA Midwest Regionals.

He was named the sixth head coach for University of Indianapolis volleyball on March 18, 2013. Prior to UIndy, Reed spent two seasons as the top assistant at Division I North Dakota State.

In 12 seasons, Reed has had three different players earn All-America distinction, including Brittany Anglemyer, Meghan Binkerd, and Hailey Brown. Following the 2019 campaign, Alyssa Spears became the first Greyhounds in UIndy volleyball history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, as she was named to the third team. In addition, Katie Furlong earned All-Region honors in multiple seasons, as well as CoSIDA Academic All-District laurels.

Reed earned his 100th career win as a head coach on September 29, 2018, with the team's five-set victory over 11th-ranked Lewis. His 200th career victory also came against stiff competition, as UIndy knocked off 20th-ranked Quincy in the 2024 regular-season finale for Reed's accomplishment.

Prior to UIndy, Reed was on the coaching staff at Michigan State (volunteer), North Dakota State (assistant), West Alabama (assistant), and Western Michigan (assistant). Reed helped tutor AVCA All-America Honorable Mention outside hitter Brynn Joki in his short time at NDSU, while also working with two-time MAC Defensive Player of the Year Caitlin Strimel at WMU. The Broncos won 20+ matches four straight seasons with Reed on the bench, which included three West Division titles.

Despite not playing volleyball in high school, Reed became a standout libero on the Michigan State club volleyball team during his four-year career. He won back-to-back Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Big Ten Tournament awards in 2005 and 2006. The Spartans won the Big Ten Tournament in 2005 and the Big Ten regular season championship in 2006. During the 2006 season, Reed helped MSU to the highest national ranking in school history (#3) and the Spartans were the only team to defeat eventual national champion Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He also helped MSU win back-to-back State of Michigan Championships in 2005 and 2006.

Born into a U.S. military family in Germany, Reed graduated from Battle Creek (Mich.) Harper Creek High School in 2001 and then went on to receive a bachelor's in Exercise Science from Michigan State in 2005. He added a master's degree in exercise physiology from Western Michigan in 2010.

Reed has one son, Gunnar Gabriel, born in October 2015.
