Indianapolis is hosting the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional for the first time in 10 years! The Greyhounds hosted a four-team regional in 1993. </p> <p> Indy is making its third NCAA II Tournament appearance. The Hounds dropped an 81-76 decision to Saginaw Valley in 1993. Indy earned its second NCAA berth in 1995, falling 91-71 at Northern Michigan. </p> <p> GLVC Tournament champions! Top-seeded Indianapolis won its first-ever GLVC Tournament championship with a 74-63 triumph over third seed Quincy at Evansvilles Roberts Stadium last Saturday. </p> <p> Sophomore guard Amy Wisser (Marion) was voted the tournaments Most Outstanding Player after recording her third straight double-figure scoring output. Wisser had 48 points in the three games, scoring 21 vs. Missouri-St. Louis. </p> <p> Senior forward Kristen Lowry (Logansport) joined Wisser on the five-player All-Tournament Team. Lowry had eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds against Quincy. She amassed 39 points and 27 rebounds in the tournament. </p> <p> Sophomore guard Amanda Davidson (Brownsburg) paced the Hounds with a team-high 13 points vs. QU, hitting 7-8 at the free throw line. She added four assists and three steals. Davidson also tied a tournament record with 11 assists in the Hounds 78-55 semifinal win over Bellarmine. </p> <p> Senior center Emily Hammes (Sheridan/Westfield) was the only player on either team who had previously played in a GLVC Tournament final. Hammes, a member of the 2000 runner-up Hounds, scored 12 points on 6-10 FG shooting. </p> <p> Junior forward Sara Strahm (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) had a huge game with season highs of 12 points and eight rebounds. Strahm hit 5-7 from the field and 2-2 at the line, adding four assists and three steals. </p> <p> Sophomore guard Sara Riedeman (Greensburg) nailed three treys in a 2:19 span late in the first half. That trio of treys keyed a 13-2 run that broke a 22-all tie and gave Indianapolis a 35-24 lead. Indy hit 5-11 treys in the first half to take a 35-26 lead. U of I shot 50% from the field (25-50) and 82% at the line (18-22) for the game. </p> <p> On a roll! Indianapolis has won 16 straight games and 26 of its last 27 since November 30! The Greyhounds recorded the longest winning streak in school history with their 68-53 win over Missouri-St. Louis last Wednesday.
