INDIANAPOLIS-  The Greyhound men's basketball team overmatched the visiting Taylor-Fort Wayne Falcons for a convincing 104-65 victory in the team's season opener at Nicoson Hall Saturday afternoon.  Six different UIndy players scored in double figures led by senior Jordan Barnard's 16-point effort.

UIndy (1-0) jumped ahead early and never looked back.  The Hounds grabbed an 8-1 advantage with a Tyke Cockerham layup and triple, and another long ball from Keith Radcliff.  The Hounds would later go on a 21-3 run to stake themselves to a comfortable 31-8 lead with eight minutes left in the opening half.

Cockerham hit all five of his shots from the floor in the opening half as the Hounds were out in front 52-26 at the break.  The half came to a close on an emphatic alley-oop dunk by Braxton Mills in the final seconds.

That dunk was one of a handful of impressive slams in the game, two from Mills and one each from Larry Woods and Tristan Rogers.  Rogers' dunk came as Barnard streaked downcourt and made an over-the-shoulder catch near the sidelines, gathered himself and fed Rogers for a ferocious two-hander.  The next trip down, Woods grabbed an offensive board and slammed it home as UIndy dominated the paint against the smaller Falcons.  The Hounds out-boarded the Falcons, 50-15, including 21 on the offensive end and five from Woods alone.

The UIndy bench nearly outscored the entire Falcons roster, tallying 57 points in the win.  Sergey Struck gathered 11 rebounds in just 16 minutes while Mills posted 14 points in 14 minutes off the bench, hitting on all seven of his shots.  All told, all 13 Greyhounds played in the game with 12 different Hounds scoring.  UIndy connected on 8-of-18 from three-point range with three apiece from Barnard and Radcliff.  Barnard added six assists and Cockerham had seven helpers.

The Greyhounds will face a brutal schedule ahead, starting with Tuesday's matchup at preseason Division II's top-ranked team, Findlay.  UIndy will play three top ten schools in its next four games (at Grand Valley State, vs. Northern Kentucky).

Notes:  Coupled with the women's 107-75 win vs. Midway College, the UIndy basketball programs marked a milestone as each scored in triple digits on the same date ... Freshmen Tyler Johnson and Eric Borst each collected their first collegiate points Saturday.
