Chargers zap Hounds, 75-55

Box score

INDIANAPOLIS-  The Greyhound men's basketball team suffered a 75-55 setback at the hands of Hillsdale College Saturday night at Nicoson Hall.  UIndy (1-2) struggled to find a rhythm offensively all night as the Chargers earned their second in-region win in as many games.

The Hounds held only a brief 3-2 lead on a Donald Cloutier triple in a night where UIndy could not generate a consistent offensive attack.  UIndy mustered just 26 first-half points and the Chargers held the Greyhounds to just six field goals in the second half.  All told, the Hounds connected on only 28.6 percent of their shots for the night.

While the Chargers weren't flashy offensively either, they managed to do their work underneath, out-rebounding UIndy 49-36 and out-scoring the Hounds 40-20 in the paint.  Hillsdale was led by 20 points from preseason All-America honorable mention forward Tony Gugino, who poured-in 20 points and grabbed a game-high nine boards.

Senior Keith Radcliff registered a dozen points to lead the UIndy offensive, but connected on just 4-of-16 from the floor.  Tristan Rogers added 10 points and seven rebounds in the effort.

The Greyhounds will look to regroup next Saturday, but it will be no small task as they head to Allendale, Mich. to face Grand Valley State University.  The perenial power is nationally-ranked (No. 8- Preseason Division II Basketball Times) and is the reigning regional champion.  Tip time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Eastern.
