ALLENDALE, Mich.- The University of Indianapolis men's basketball team faced another top ten opponent, falling to host No. 9 Grand Valley State at GVSU Fieldhouse Saturday night. The Lakers remained perfect on the year and extended their home court winning streak to 37 straight in their home building.
Keith Radcliff opened the scoring for UIndy (1-3) with a pair of long threes as the teams traded leads. A 10-1 run by the Lakers near the end of the half put the home team up 31-23 at the break as GVSU (4-0) looked primed to continue its regular-season winning streak to 37, dating back to the 2006-07 season.
Coming out of the break, GV's Pete Trammell scored 10 of his team's first 14 points in the second half to help the Lakers extend their lead to as many as 14 in the opening minutes.
A triple by
Donald Cloutier helped slice the lead down to nine points, but it would be the closest UIndy would get, as the Lakers went on a 19-7 run to distance themselves.
The Hounds were led by Cloutier- who dropped in four triples en route to 16 points- and
Tristan Rogers, who also had 16 points.
Tyke Cockerham and Radcliff each chipped-in eight points.
The Greyhounds return home to open Great Lakes Valley Conference play this Thursday, hosting No. 5 Northern Kentucky for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
Notes:
Braxton Mills and Devin Williams each made their first starts of the season Saturday ... Radcliff has hit at least two three-pointers in all four games this season.
