Keith Radcliff's career-high point total only lasted one game as the senior erased his Saturday night performance with a 32-point effort Sunday in a 104-88 loss to host Alderson-Broaddus. Radcliff scored 55 points in the two games at the tournament.
A night after scoring 23 points to set a new career best, Radcliff made 8-of-18 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from distance en route to 32 points. He did most of his damage in the second half, scoring 21 in the final 20 minutes making all three of his triple tries and going 10-for-10 from the charity stripe.
Alderson-Broaddus (6-1) held a slim 21-20 advantage midway through the first half before embarking on a 29-10 run, including the final eight points of the half to stretch the advantage to 20 points.
Donald Cloutier started the second half with a dunk on the first possession, then later had a block that led to an open three-pointer to trim the margin to 52-35. But, the lead continued to hover around 20 points, eventually ballooning as high as 25 with 8:48 left.
With the score 92-68 and the game seemingly out of reach with just three minutes remaining, the Greyhounds went on a spirited flurry that saw 14 straight UIndy points in the next two minutes to close the gap to 10 and force the home team to return its starters for the final minute. The run was punctuated by a
Tyke Cockerham fastbreak layup with just over a minute to play. The Battlers wriggled free and posted the victory to improve to 6-1 on the season.
Cockerham chipped-in 17 points in the loss.
Tristan Rogers added 14 points and four boards off the bench.
UIndy (2-6) returns home to play Brescia this Wednesday night. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Nicoson Hall.
Notes: Radcliff has hit at least two three-pointers in all eight games this season ... With his 55 poiints this weekend, Radcliff upped his scoring average to 17.4 per game, fourth-best in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
