EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The No. 18-ranked Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles led wire-to-wire in an 87-74 win over the visiting University of Indianapolis Greyhounds men's basketball team at the Physical Activities Center Sunday. The Screaming Eagles remained perfect in Great Lakes Valley Conference play with the win, posting their fourth win.
USI (14-2, 4-0 GLVC) took the early advantage and never looked back, building an eight-point lead at the half. With the score 14-11, the Hounds slipped into a nearly four-minute dryspell, allowing the host team to take a 21-11 advantage with 12 minutes remaining. UIndy (5-8, 0-4) closed it to 29-24, but did not register another field goal for the rest of the half as the Screaming Eagles went to the lockerroom with a 36-28 lead.
The advantage quickly grew to 17 in the second half when the Eagles scored on their first four possessions. Later, a 9-0 Eagle run helped give them a comfortable lead, thanks in part to USI's balanced scoring attack, which featured five different players in double digits.
Keith Radcliff was UIndy's leading scorer, dropping in 17 points.
Braxton Mills added 13 points and eight rebounds while
Larry Woods produced 12 points for the Greyhounds.
UIndy will look to put the brakes on a two-game losing skid this week, hosting Missouri-St. Louis and Rockhurst this Thursday and Saturday, respectively, at Nicoson Hall.
Notes: UIndy Head Coach
Stan Gouard returned to USI for the first time as a head coach, where he led the Eagles to back-to-back national title games, including the 1995 championship.
