Swim teams win final tune-up before GLIAC meet

INDIANAPOLIS- In their final meet before the conference championships, the UIndy men's and women's swim teams both earned dual victories versus Lewis at the Ruth Lilly Center Pool Saturday afternoon.  The men downed the visiting Flyers 114-87, while the women took a 122-82 win.

The UIndy women took eight of the 11 contested events, while the men earned wins in seven.  Maura Donahue earned two NCAA B-cut times by winning both the 100 (53.19) and 1000 freestyle (10:33.83).  The freshman also helped the 200 free relay team to a win (1:40.44).  Erica Smith also earned a pair of B cuts, one coming in the 100 fly (57.84) and one in the 200 individual medley (2:11.83).

On the men's side, Guy Kogel and Austin Biefnes each garnered three wins apiece.  After the duo shared victory in the 200 medley relay  (1:36.92), Kogel touched the wall first in the 50 free (21.62) and the 100 free (47.21), while Biefnes won the 200 IM (1:58.55) and the 100 breast (1:01.08).

The 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship will be held Feb. 10-13 in Detroit, Mich.  Both teams finished third at last year's conference meet.
