OWENSBORO, Ky. - For the second time this season, a physical matchup between the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers and the UIndy Greyhounds came down to the wire and for the second time the Panthers came away with a victory. The eighth-ranked Panthers topped the Hounds 75-70 at the Owensboro Sportscenter in action on Thursday night.

The Panthers opened the game on a 12-0 run, capped by a deep three-point basket from Maros Zuffa, before Darius Adams put an end to the Greyhound drought with a finger roll at the 16:00 mark.

UIndy responded with a 10-2 run of their own after a pull-up jumper from Adams found the bottom of the net after a steal on the Kentucky Wesleyan end of the floor to the cut the KWC advantage to 14-10.

Both teams traded baskets for the next 8 minutes before UIndy closed the gap to 27-25 on a lay-up by Dijon Knight after a pass from Adams from the right elbow and a free throw by Larry Woods with just over three minutes remaining in the opening stanza.

Knight connected on one of two free throws after being fouled on the final shot of the first half trimming the KWC lead to four as the host Panthers took a 31-27 advantage into the locker room.

Ryan Sims opened the second half with a deep trey from the left wing to move the Greyhounds to within one at 31-30 and would give the Hounds their first lead at 32-31 with 17:31 remaining on a five-foot jumper.

The UIndy lead was short lived as Kentucky Wesleyan regained the lead on a three-point bucket from Marico Stinson and a short hook shot from Andree' Wilson on the next Panther possession.  Two more Wilson free throws pushed the KWC lead to 42-34 at the 13:00 mark.

Both teams traded baskets as the Panthers kept the lead between six and eight until a three by Sergey Struck and a put back from Larry Woods with 5:30 left in the game closed the Kentucky Wesleyan advantage to 52-49.

The Panthers reclaimed a double-digit lead at 62-52 on a driving lay-up from Desmond Stephens with 1:40 left on the clock and the Panther defense and free throw shooting thwarted any Greyhound comeback effort, earning a 75-70 victory.

Adams led all scorers with 26 points, shooting 11-of-21, including 3-of-7 from behind the three-point line.  Woods tallied 14 for the Hounds, rounding out the double-digit scorers for UIndy.

Kentucky Wesleyan won the turnover battle, forcing 19 Greyhound turnovers, turning them into 23 points.  The Panthers sealed the game at the charity stripe, finishing the game 24-of-32 at the line.

The loss drops Indianapolis to 12-12 on the season and 6-9 in Great Lakes Vally Conference play, while Kentucky Wesleyan improves to 24-3 and 13-2 in the GLVC.  UIndy will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Evansville to take on the undefeated Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana.
