OWENSBORO, Ky. --
Darius Adams had a near triple-double of 22 points, career-high 10 assists and nine rebounds, but No. 17 Kentucky Wesleyan held off University of Indianapolis men's basketball, 87-79, on Thursday night at the Sportscenter.

Adrian Moss scored a team-high 24 points with four rebounds, career-high four steals and two assists, while Joe Daniels had career highs of 10 points and eight rebounds for the Greyhounds (13-4, 6-3 GLVC).

"I'm happy with the production of Joe Daniels," head coach Stan Gouard said. "But, I'm frustrated with the team and the way we guarded. We didn't do a good job of defending those guys. We can't keep guys in front of us. We couldn't guard them so we went to zone and couldn't get the rebound. On offense, we came down and took quick shots."

The difference against the Panthers (13-3, 6-3 GLVC) came at the foul line where KWC hit 27-of-36 (.750), while UIndy attempted only 20 free throws, hitting 16 (.800). Kentucky Wesleyan also shot 51.9 percent (27-52) overall, while the Greyhounds connected on 46.6 percent (27-58) and 9-of-22 three-pointers.

UIndy had five more turnovers, 13-8, than KWC, which led to a 16-10 advantage in points off turnovers and 10-0 in fast break points.

"They were more physical than we were," Gouard said. "They beat us on the boards (32-31) and no one on the team stepped up to the challenge that Kentucky Wesleyan posed."

KWC was led by Cardell McFarland with 25 points and six assists and Anthony Young had 23 points and nine rebounds.

The first 12-plus minutes of the game were back and forth with seven ties and four lead changes. UIndy built a lead of three points on three occassions and still led, 25-23, after a jumper by Cody Vest assisted by Leland Brown with 9:36 to play in the half.

The Panthers rallied off seven points in a row to take a lead, 30-25, they would not relinquish with 5:57 to go in the first period. Back-to-back three-pointers by Moss kept UIndy within one, 32-31, but KWC closed the half on an 8-1 run to lead by eight, 40-32, at halftime.

A 9-4 run to start the second half pushed the Greyhounds' deficit to 13, 49-36, with 16:37 to go in the game. UIndy rallied to cut the deficit to seven, 53-46, after a three-pointer by Paul Corsaro with 13:08 remaining. KWC wouldn't let UIndy get closer until Brown scored inside and Moss hit two free throws to close within five, 65-60, with 8:46 to play, but the Greyhounds couldn't get closer.

UIndy actually was able to make it a five-point game four more times, including 79-74 with 2:50 to go. Kentucky Wesleyan was then able to cling to the lead in the final minutes to hold off UIndy's comeback.

The Greyhounds' road trip continues on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. ET against No. 4 Southern Indiana (16-1, 8-1 GLVC).
