Greyhounds earn individual victories against nation's best

ALLENDALE, Mich. --
The University of Indianapolis men's and women's swimming and diving teams battled one of the best teams in the country against Grand Valley State on Saturday. The No. 13 Greyhound women fell to No. 4 GVSU, 140-91, while the 16th ranked men fell to the third-ranked Lakers, 163-66, in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match-up.

The UIndy women were led by Maura Donahue and Julia Madeira with three wins each. They ended the day by teaming with Meghan Donahue and Vicki Galiamoutsa to win the 400 free relay in 3:34.97.

Donahue won the 200 free and 500 free in NCAA "B" cuts of 1:55.41 and 5:07.33, while Madeira earned "B" cuts in winning the 50 free and 100 free in 24.39 and 53.47.

Madeira actually led a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 free as Alex Norris and Galiamoutsa finished second and third in 25.28 and 25.34.

Meghan Donahue added an individual win to her relay win by finishing first in the 200 back in 2:10.12.

On the men's side, Musaffer Demitras earned a "B" cut by winning the 200 breast in 2:06.44, while Aviv Sela was second in 2:11.92. Guy Kogel finished second in the 200 fly in 1:51.48, another "B" cut.

The Hounds go back on the road next weekend for another GLIAC dual meet against Lewis. The Flyer men are ranked 20th nationally.
