Men's tennis opens dual schedule with a win

CEDARVILLE, Ohio --
After having to wait a weekend to get its first dual match in, the UIndy men's tennis team won a Midwest Region match at Cedarville, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds (1-0) started by taking two of the three doubles matches against the Yellowjackets (2-4). Trevor Cox and Alex Poe won 8-5 at second doubles against Bobby Eberhard and Quinton Paul, while Michael Bradley and Nick Reinhart won 8-1 at No. 3 against Mike Clark and Adam Levesque.

UIndy followed by sweeping all six singles matches. Cox defeated Aaron Niemiec 6-1, 6-2 at the top position, while Poe won 6-0, 6-2 over Eberhard at No. 2.

Caleb Fellers fought from behind to defeat John Filcik 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at third singles and Reinhart took a 6-2, 6-2 decision against Levesque at No. 4. Preston Swain also won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 against Paul and Bradley earned a sweep on the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Drew Steinhart at No. 6.

The Greyhounds remain on the road to play another regional match at Ohio Dominican (0-1) on Sunday at noon.
