On Tap:  The Greyhounds continue their season-opening seven-game homestand when they play their first NCAA Division II opponents of the season in the Angus Nicoson Basketball Classic. UIndy will play Lake Superior State on Friday and Northern Michigan on Saturday. The tournament also features GLVC rival St. Joseph's playing the same two GLIAC opponents.

About Angus Nicoson:  UIndy Hall of Famer Nicoson was a legendary student-athlete ('42), coach and athletic director for the Greyhounds. He was a guard on the 1941 and 1942 basketball teams that won 30 straight games. He was 483-279 (.633) as head coach of the Greyhounds from 1947-76 with eight Hoosier College Conference championships and six NAIA Tournament appearances.

About Lake Superior State:  The Lakers are 4-1 to start the season and already hold regional wins against GLVC teams Missouri-St. Louis (64-53) and Illinois Springfield (74-66). They are led by 6-5 junior forward Derek Kinney with 17 points and 9.8 rebounds per game and 6-2 sophomore guard Derek Billing with 14.2 points, 4.8 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. LSSU makes a living at the free throw line with 21.2 made freebies/game.

About Northern Michigan:  The Wildcats have split their first two games with their loss coming in their only D-II game against Lewis, 87-53. Haki Stampley, a 6-3 freshman forward, leads the team with 17 points and 6-4 senior guard DeAndre Taylor adds 12 points per game.

Series History:  The Greyhounds are 1-0 against LSSU with the only meeting coming in the 1996 NCAA Tournament in a 105-81 victory. UIndy and NMU have never met on the hardwood.

Second Impact:  Joe Daniels, Jarrett Hamilton, Brennan McElroy and Miles Mitchell all have seen significant increases in playing time in their sophomore season in the Crimson and Grey.

Hamilton scored a career-high 20 points in the first two games and is second in scoring with 17 points and 3.7 steals per game.

McElroy is averaging 12 points, five rebounds and three steals per game, while leading the team in dunks (4) and field goal percentage (.692).

Mitchell leads the team in minutes (32.3) and three-pointers (11), while averaging 13.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game, while Daniels is chipping in 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Light the Lamp:  UIndy was 11th in the country with 83.9 points per game last season and has kept that up with 94.0 points per game to start 2011-12 with seven players averaging 11.3 points or more.

Give it Back:  UIndy is forcing 30 turnovers per game this season, including 19.3 steals per game. That has led to UIndy averaging 42.3 points off turnovers and 22.3 fast break points per game. The Greyhounds are +16.3 in turnover margin and have a 1.4 assist/turnover ratio.

Hounds on TV:  Produced by HomeTown Television, the following games will be televised via tape-delay and air on WRTV 6.2 HTSN: Dec. 1 vs. Bellarmine, Jan. 16 vs. St. Joseph's, Feb. 2 vs. Kentucky Wesleyan and Feb. 4 vs. Southern Indiana. The Greyhounds were 5-1 last season in televised games.

Those games are also streamed live on hometownsportsindiana.com and the remainder of UIndy's home games are on www.ustream.tv/channel/Indianapolis-Greyhounds.

Hounds on Radio:  The Greyhounds are broadcast live on WICR 88.7 FM.  You can also catch the Greyhounds on the Internet via live streaming.  Get details at wicr.uindy.edu/audio.
