On Tap: The Greyhounds open the 2011-12 Great Lakes Valley Conference season at home against top-ranked defending national champion Bellarmine on Thursday and long-time rival Northern Kentucky on Saturday for Pack the House Night. This will conclude a stretch of seven consecutive home games to start the season.
About Bellarmine: The Knights are led by the All-American back court of Braydon Hobbs and last year's GLVC Player of the Year, Jeremy Kendle. Kendle is fifth in the GLVC with 20 points per game and Hobbs adds 15.4 ppg. Chris Dowe and Keisten Jones are also in double figures with 11.8 and 11.0 ppg.
About Northern Kentucky: The Norse made waves by beating West Virginia in an exhibition and play Thursday at St. Joseph's in their GLVC opener. NKU averages 96.0 points per game, led by Kent State transfer big man DeAndre Nealy with 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game.
Series History: The Greyhounds are 39-45 all-time against Bellarmine after dropping three meetings to the Knights last season and eight consecutive defeats in the series. BU won 99-97 in Nicoson Hall, 80-70 at home and 84-70 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at BU last season.
UIndy is 29-35 against NKU after defeating the No. 21 Norse, 81-76, at Nicoson Hall last season. UIndy has won the last two home games against the Norse.
Adrian Moss is averaging 13 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists against Bellarmine, while
Wilbur O'Neal is shooting .750 with 13.7 points per game.
Against NKU, O'Neal scores 12.5 per game and Moss chips in 11 points and 6.5 assists.
vs. Ranked Teams: UIndy has won 32 games against nationally-ranked teams, including three with Coach Gouard in charge. This is the first meeting against the nation's top team since Nov. 18, 2008 (L, 77-66 at Findlay). UIndy is 1-12 against No. 1 with the lone win at Nicoson Hall on Jan. 8, 2004, against Southern Indiana, 88-87, which was also the last home game against the No. 1 ranked team. Coach Gouard was an assistant for UIndy in that game.
