BLOOMINGTON, Ind. --
Adrian Moss led all players with 22 points and added four assists and two rebounds as UIndy men's basketball fell at Indiana, 90-72, in an exhibition on Saturday night in front of 16,516 at Assembly Hall.

"(Moss) is very, very hard to guard. We gave him a couple of open shots, but some shots he made were really tough," Indiana head coach Tom Crean said. "I'm impressed with their team and glad that we did it. I think they are going to be good."

Reece Cheatham added 15 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting and three rebounds, while Jarrett Hamilton had nine points, five assists and three rebounds. Mikel Brigham led all players with 11 rebounds and scored six points. Wilbur O'Neal fractured a rib in practice on Friday, but still played 19 minutes against Indiana before fouling out with three points, four rebounds, one assist and one block.

The Greyhounds shot 41.8 percent overall (23-55) and made 47.4 percent of their three-pointers with nine makes in 19 attempts. The bigger Hoosiers out-rebounded the Greyhounds, 36-31, on the way to shooting 53.7 percent (29-54).

"We've proven that we can score and I never doubted that we score," UIndy head coach Stan Gouard said. "I just questioned our defense from day one. We have a lot of work to do, especially on the defensive end. If we can defend someone, I think we can be a pretty good ball club."

Indiana had a 28-18 advantage in points in the paint and 15-7 in second-chance points.

The Greyhounds held an early lead, 4-3, after back-to-back lay-ups by Brennan McElroy, but IU came back with a 5-1 run to regain the lead, 8-5. A lay-up by Moss kept UIndy within one, 8-7, but IU scored nine in a row to go up by nine, 16-7, with 10:56 to play.

A three-pointer by Will Sheehey put the Hoosiers up 12, 23-11, with 8:09 to and kept a double-digit lead until Cheatham hit a pair of free throws to pull UIndy within eight, 38-30. The teams traded three-pointers with Miles Mitchell connecting from deep to keep the difference at eight, but IU closed the half on a 9-2 run to lead by 15, 50-35, at halftime.

The Hoosiers shot 64 percent in the first half, including 5-of-7 three-pointers. IU also attempted 20 free throws and ended the game making 26-of-36 with four Greyhounds fouling out.

UIndy couldn't pull closer than 12 points in the second half, but were only out-scored by three, 40-37, in the second stanza, including making five three-pointers and holding IU to a shooting percentage 19 points lower than the first half (.448).

"I told Stan after the game with the way he blends those new guys in with his returners they are going to be very good," Crean said. "(The GLVC) is a great league and I think Indianapolis will be right up there when they all mesh. I think Stan is an excellent guy and an excellent coach and he's got people like Jeremy Tiers and Adam Martin on that staff that I've known for years."

The Greyhounds open the 2011-12 season with seven consecutive games at home beginning with Mount St. Joseph next Saturday at Nicoson Hall.
