GLVC Tournament: UIndy has clinched a home game for the first round of the GLVC Tournament on Feb. 26. The Greyhounds are currently tied for the fourth seed with Drury. The top 12 teams make the tournament and the top six host first round games before the tournament moves to Maryville University March 4-6.
Nationally Ranked: UIndy made its first appearance in the top 25 in seven years in the Feb. 1 poll at No. 22. It's the first national ranking since being No. 25 on Feb. 3, 2004. The Hounds have received votes in each of the last five polls.
In the NCAA Midwest Region rankings, UIndy has been eighth for the first two weeks and are 10th this week. The top eight make the NCAA Tournament.
GLVC Player of the Year?: Adams received national recognition by garnering 2010-11 Preseason All-American Honorable Mention from both The Sporting News and Division II Bulletin. Adams is seventh in the country and first in the GLVC with 23.3 points per game, while adding 6.1 rebounds (12th GLVC), 4.0 assists (10th) and 1.96 steals (1st) per game
The six-foot, 165-pounder has scored in double figures every game this season, including 17 games of 20 points or more and three of 30-plus with a career-high and GLVC season-high 41 points at Illinois-Springfield on Jan. 2. Adams has scored in double figures in 33 consecutive games dating back to 2009-10.
He notched his sixth career double-double and second this season with 34 points and 17 rebounds at Lewis on Jan. 15. His 17 rebounds are tied for the most in the GLVC this season and the most for a Greyhound since Brad Borgman at Wisconsin-Parkside (17) on Nov. 30, 2000. He had a near triple-double at KWC with 22 points, 10 assists and nine boards. He has four double-doubles this season and eight in his career.
With 1,081 career points, Adams is the 35th 1,000-point scorer in UIndy history. He also has 97 career steals, which is 10th in school history.
Light the Lamp: UIndy is sixth in the country with 85.9 points per game after surpassing 100 points in four of its first seven games for the first time since the 1988-89 season. The last time UIndy scored 100 points or more in at least four games in a season was the 2004-05 campaign, which was UIndy's last trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Hounds are first in three-pointers (8.83/gm, 14th nationally), fifth in field goal percentage (.492, 17th) and fifth in three-point percentage (.387, 31st) in the GLVC.
Give it Back: UIndy is forcing 17.0 turnovers per game (3rd GLVC), including 8.92 steals per contest (1st GLVC/31st nationally), which has led to 21.6 points off turnovers per game. Nationally, the Greyhounds are 15th in turnover margin (+3.67) and 24th in assist/turnover ratio (1.22).
Free Points: The Greyhounds average 22.5 free throw attempts per game (395-539). Adams is 124-of-144 (.861) to rank fifth in the GLVC, while UIndy as a whole is 47th nationally at 73.3 percent.
Moss Grows: Moss has stabilized the UIndy point guard spot. He ranks second in the GLVC and in the top-45 in the country with 5.04 assists per game and fifth in the GLVC with a 1.86 assist/turnover ratio. Moss had 10 assists against Missouri S&T and is one of only four GLVC players with 10 assists in a game this season.
The Squire Did It: Squires' experience as one of only four returning players has been invaluable as he is second on the team with 4.0 rebounds per game, while adding 8.6 points per game. Squires started the first 21 games of the year and 22-of-24.
Better Late Than Never: After missing the first three games of the season, O'Neal has been an impact performer with 13.4 points (17th GLVC) and 4.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 68.2 percent (3rd nationally). He is 15th in the conference with 1.95 offensive rebounds per game.
Double Duty: Junior
Paul Corsaro is continuing his two-sport career in 2010-11. He played football for UIndy on both sides of the ball with eight rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown as a short-yardage quarterback and 10 tackles on defense. Since returning to the hardwood, he chips in 3.6 points in 15.6 minutes per game.
More than an Exhibition: While the exhibition victory over nationally-ranked Tennessee didn't count in the standings, UIndy's victory made quite an impact. Gouard appeared on ESPN First Take on ESPN2 on Nov. 9, a mere 12 hours after the victory, and was also on Fox 59, 1070 The Fan and SportsRadio 1260. Adams, Moss and senior forward
Nate Blank were all on Fox 59 and Blank also appeared on 1070 The Fan.
