INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Indianapolis Athletics and Hometown Sports Indiana will partner again during the 2011-12 season to bring televised Greyhound events to students, alumni and fans. Hometown Sports Indiana will produce five live football broadcasts on WRTV 6.2 and online at
HometownSportsIndiana.com. Live online coverage of one volleyball match and four basketball doubleheaders will follow, with subsequent airings on 6.2.
"Hometown Sports Indiana is thrilled to continue its partnership with the University of Indianapolis," Hometown Sports Vice President of Programming and Content Greg Rakestraw said. "While we've expanded our coverage to include teams ranging from NCAA Division I to NAIA, including several NCAA Championships, UIndy was the first institution to partner with us and we value that relationship. We look forward to bringing live Greyhound athletics in HD to over one million homes in Indiana."
Live footage from Key Stadium will begin with the football season and home opener on Sept. 1 against Kentucky Wesleyan at 7 p.m. Subsequent football broadcasts will begin at 6 p.m. against Grand Valley State (Sept. 17), Findlay (Oct. 1), Saginaw Valley State (Oct. 15) and Northern Michigan (Oct. 22).
"The partnership with Hometown Sports has been great for UIndy coaches and student-athletes to showcase their abilities to a state-wide audience over the air and limitless online audience, while also allowing Greyhound fans around the world to watch their team in action," UIndy Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations Matt Holmes said. "We look forward to another season of exciting UIndy contests on Hometown Sports Indiana."
The Hometown Sports Indiana cameras will come to Ruth Lilly Center on Oct. 25 for the in-state rivalry volleyball match against St. Joseph's.
Basketball doubleheader broadcasts begin on Dec. 1 against Bellarmine, where the men's team is the defending NCAA Division II national champion. Other broadcasts are on Jan. 16 against St. Joseph's, Feb. 2 against Kentucky Wesleyan and a fourth date to be named later.
