INDIANAPOLIS –
The 2012-13 swimming and diving season for UIndy begins on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. when the Greyhounds host Asbury (Ky.) at Ruth Lilly Center Pool. UIndy will be tested in the opening meet as both Eagles' squads finished in the top 10 at the NAIA National Championships last season with the men taking ninth and the women 10th.

The Greyhounds had another successful season in 2011-12 as the women placed 11th and the men 12th at the NCAA Division II Championships in Texas.

The women return five of their nine All-Americans from a season ago, paced by two-time GLIAC Female Swimmer of the Year and 21-time All-American Maura Donahue. The Greyhounds also return junior freestyler Julia Madeira, senior freestyler Shiran Abrahamson, sophomore free styler Hayley Good and sophomore butterflyer Samantha Asencio.

UIndy's women will also feature the return of diving this year with a quartet of freshmen divers.

On the men's side, UIndy returns five of their six All-Americans from a season ago, losing just decorated butterflyer Guy Kogel. A six-time All-American in his freshman season, backstroker Justin Rossillo returns, followed by junior sprint freestyler/backstroker in 11-time All-American junior Bruno Barbosa.

The Greyhounds also welcome back sprint freestyle senior Nikolas Aresti, butterfly/IM specialist Daniel Chan and junior breaststroker Muzaffer Demirtas.

Both squads will also debut a number of talented newcomers on Saturday. Click the play button to hear from head coach Gary Kinkead previewing this season.
