INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis swimming and diving teams were both victorious over Ashland in the Pink Meet at Ruth Lilly Center Pool on Saturday afternoon. The men won 158-96, while the women's victory was by a 161-92 margin.
The men won 11 events and the women took the victory in nine events.
Justin Rossillo led the men by taking first in the 200 individual medley (1:55.95) and 100 back (51.17), while also being a part of victorious 200 medley relay (1:31.74) and 400 free relay (3:07.79) teams.
Muzaffer Demirtas,
Daniel Chan and
Aaron Stevenson were on the medley relay, while
Bruno Barbosa,
Justin Klopp and
Nikolas Aresti joined him in the free relay.
Demirtas also took an individual win in the 100 breast (57.54) and Barbosa won the 200 free (1:42.43). Rounding out the winners for the men were
Adil Assouab in the 1,000 free (9:51.09),
Nir Posner (51.14) in the 100 fly and
Dawid Rybinski in the 500 free (4:37.02).
The Greyhounds also earned a bevy of points in the dives as
Tyler Offutt won both disciplines for the men and
Courtney Wilder took both for the women. Offutt actually earned a national qualifying mark of 290.7 on the one-meter, while Wilder qualified on the three-meter with a six-dive score of 274.65. Both divers will now be able to compete in the pre-qualifying event on the Tuesday prior to the NCAA Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
Tyler Offutt qualified for Nationals in 1 mts. and
Courtney Wilder qualified for National on the 3 mt. diving events
today. That qualifies them to attend the Pre-Qualifying event on the
Tuesday before the Nationals begin -- from that pre-qualifying event, they can qualify for competing in the Nationals.
On the women's side,
Maura Donahue led the way with individual wins in the 200 free (1:52.89) and 500 free (5:12.35) and was the anchor of the winning 400 free relay (3:33.14) with
Julia Madeira,
Hayley Good and
Samantha Asencio.
Madeira added a win in the 100 free (53.20) and Asencio took the 100 fly (59.13). Additional victors for UIndy were
Shiran Abrahamson in the 1,000 free (10:57.84) and
Michelle Mikaelsson in the 200 IM (2:11.81).
The Greyhounds are back in action in two weeks when they head to Wabash for the Woehnker Invitational on Friday night and all day on Nov. 17.
