ALLENDALE, Mich. – The University of Indianapolis men's and women's swimming and diving teams, both ranked seventh in NCAA Division II, fell at Grand Valley State on Saturday afternoon. The men fell 188-112 to No. 12 GVSU, while the women dropped a 177-123 decision to the 12th-ranked Lakers.
The women were led by
Maura Donahue as she won the 1,000 free (10:38.26) and 500 free (5:14.04), in addition to taking second to teammate
Julia Madeira in the 50 free (24.87.) Freshman
Katy Sonksen was runner-up to Donahue in both of her victories. Madeira was also a dual winner as she took the 200 free (1:58.02), followed by
Shiran Abrahamson. The final win for the women came on the diving board where
Courtney Wilder took the one-meter with 288.76 points.
Sophomore
Tyler Offutt led the men by winning both diving events with 298.73 on the three-meter and 293.40 on the one-meter. Other winners were
Justin Rossillo in the 100 back (52.63),
Muzaffer Demirtas in the 200 breast (2:13.33) and
Dawid Rybinski in the 500 free (4:37.90).
The Greyhounds wrap up the regular season next weekend at Ruth Lilly Center Pool for Senior Day against Lewis on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m.
