ON TAP
No. 18 UIndy (4-1) hosts Purdue-Calumet (5-2) in its home opener in Nicoson Hall. The Greyhounds have won four straight since dropping the first game of the year.

ABOUT THE PEREGRINES
The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest member of the animal kingdom, reaching speeds in excess of 200 mph when diving for its prey.

The Purdue-Calumet Peregrines, however, are the 21st-ranked team in NAIA Division II, and participate in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).

In their last game out, the Peregrines defeated conference foe Olivet Nazarene, 114-105. After trailing at the break, PUC shot 58.5 percent from the floor in the second half, outscoring ONU 63-50 en route to the comeback win. Seven Peregrines scored in double figures, led by Cassidy Deno's 22 points. Madison Gervais provided 17 points and 13 boards off the bench, and Brooklyn Short finished two assists shy of a triple-double, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

The Hounds and Peregrines have met three times, with UIndy winning all three. However, the teams have not met since 1981.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T
After a 4-1 start, the Greyhounds shot up the USA TODAY Sports Division II Top 25 poll to the 18th spot. UIndy was unranked in the preseason poll, but did receive votes.

With wins over Montana State-Billings, Pittsburg State, Lake Superior State, and then-No. 15 Ashland, UIndy is one of only five teams in the Top 25 with four wins already to its credit.

Last season, the Greyhounds reached No. 5 in the polls four separate weeks. UIndy was ranked second for three consecutive weeks during the 2009-10 season (Jan. 26 to Feb. 09), marking the highest position in program history.

HOME WRECKER
UIndy spoiled a 44-game home winning streak Ashland held since 2011, defeating the defending NCAA Champions, 85-76.

The Eagles ended the Greyhounds' season last year in the opening round of the Midwest Regional, dropping UIndy 70-56 on their way to the title.

This time around, The Hounds shot over 52 percent (30-of-57) for the game, and 43 percent (13-of-30) from three-point land to knock off Ashland. Kelly Walter led the Greyhounds with 19 points, while Shelby Wall contributed 15 from the bench. The pair combined to hit 10 of UIndy's three-pointers.

REGIONAL BRAWL
Prior to the win at Ashland, UIndy made 27 of 33 free throws to escape the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with a 72-65 win over regional foe Lake Superior State.

Katy McIntosh paced the Hounds with 24 points – two shy of her career high – and added eight rebounds and six assists. McIntosh was responsible for hitting 11 of 13 Greyhound free throws, and finished above 50 percent from the floor (6-of-11).

There were nine ties and five lead changes in the second half, but UIndy was able pull away with its effort from the charity stripe. Up 66-64 with 0:16 on the clock, Carly Lythjohan sank two free throws to put away the Lakers.

OLD HAT
It took only two weeks for Katy McIntosh to earn GLVC Player of the Week honors, as the senior averaged 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists in two victories over Lake Superior State and No. 15 Ashland. The 5-8 guard out of Austin, Ind., shot 55 percent from the floor, and hit 15 of 17 from the charity stripe, good for 88 percent. McIntosh finished with a 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio (12-to-3), and averaged two steals.

The honor is McIntosh's third of her career, as she also won the award on Dec. 31, 2012 and Feb. 11, 2013. She currently ranks second in the GLVC in scoring, averaging 20.4 points per game.

WELCOME HOME
UIndy plays at Nicoson Hall for the first time this season, returning as the 18th-ranked team in the country. Over the last two seasons, the Greyhounds are a combined 23-5 at home.

MAKE IT RAIN
This UIndy squad features wo of the best three-point shooters in school history in senior Shelby Wall and junior Kelly Walter. Wall currently sits fifth in the program annals shooting 39.6 from three-point range, and has hit 75 threes in her career, 16th most all-time.

Walter is 17th in both three-pointers made (67) and attempted (211), and currently sits just outside the top 20 in percentage (31.7).

The pair each hit five threes in the win over Ashland, and have accounted for 19 of UIndy's 35 three-point field goals so far this season.
