INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's basketball team raced to a 32-point lead at halftime and never looked back in closing the regular season with a 99-71 win over in-state rival Saint Joseph's at Nicoson Hall.

With the victory and a loss by Missouri-St. Louis, the Greyhounds clinched the No. 8 seed in the Deaconess GLVC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. UIndy will play No. 9 UMSL at Nicoson Hall on Sunday, March 3 at 5:15 p.m. after the women's game at 3 p.m. against Southern Indiana.

Reece Cheatham led all players with 17 points, while James Hollowell notched his third double-double of the season with 16 points and career-high 11 rebounds for the Greyhounds (19-7, 11-7 GLVC).

Leland Brown added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Daniel Daudu scored 10 points with three assists and two steals versus the Pumas (6-19, 4-14 GLVC)

The Greyhounds shot 65.5 percent (19-29) in the first half and finished at 54.4 percent for the game (37-68), including 10-of-23 three-pointers, and 15-of-19 free throws. The Greyhounds finished with 24 assists, led by Brown's four as eight players had two or more.

UIndy dominated on the glass with a 43-25 rebound advantage and the Hounds picked up 11 steals. UIndy did turn the ball over 17 times against the Pumas.

Cheatham scored the first seven points of the game for UIndy as it jumped to a 9-2 lead in less than two minutes. The Pumas closed within five, 9-4, but it was the Greyhounds the rest of the way.

A 9-0 run concluded by Daudu's steal that led to a lay-up by Brennan McElroy pushed the lead to 14, 18-4, and forced the Pumas to burn their second 30-second timeout before the first media timeout.

The runs kept coming for UIndy as it put together an 8-0 spurt to grow the lead to 23, 45-22, with 5:36 to play on Brown's third three-pointer of the season. The Pumas didn't score in the final 2:51 of the half as Quinten Hunter scored on a lay-up and Cole Adair buried a triple for the halftime margin, 58-26.

The lead never dropped below 30 points in the second half and climbed as high as 41, 89-48, with 7:27 to go when Jared Grady drove the lane for an un-contested lay-up.
