INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy swimming and diving teams picked up dual wins versus former -GLIAC-rival Grand Valley State at the Ruth Lilly Center pool Saturday.  The Greyhound women downed the Lakers, 169-129, while the men won, 181-119.

In their second home meet in as many weekends, the Hounds recognized their 12 seniors during their final home event.  Samantha Asencio, Amber Cooper, Julia Madeira, Regina Perez, Greta Slabach, and Hayley Tisdale, as well as Bruno Barbosa, Muzaffer Demirtas, Richard Gregg, David Kelley, Bryan Lubarsky and Nir Posner were all honored by friends, family, teammates and fans after the first diving segment.

In the pool, the visiting Lakers managed just eight wins (three men, five women) in the 32 total events after beating the Greyhounds in their home pool last season.  The Hounds notched seven NCAA B cuts on the day, accounted for by Justin Rossillo (100 back, 100 free), Madeira (50 free), Aaron Stevenson (50 free), Dawid Rybinski (500 free),  and the men's 400 medley and 400 free relay teams.

"We beat a very good Grand Valley team today," said UIndy head coach Gary Kinkead.  "We swam with great passion and never let them in the meet.   I loved the enthusiasm and focus we had, even with the (long) length of the competition.  The racing was also great to watch.  We swam and acted like a team."

Other winners of note included Agnieszka Malecka and Tyler Offutt.  After transferring at semester, Malecka won her first two races as a Greyhound, touching first in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke.  Also, Offutt won both diving events with scores of 293.70 and 292.15 at one and three meters, respectively.

Up next for the Hounds is a dual at fellow-GLVC-member Lewis – UIndy's last regular-season event of the season.

Noted Kinkead:  "We have one more competition before we head off to the championship season.  We have been an excellent dual meet team, but soon it will be time to prove that we can be an excellent championship meet team as well."

The Lewis meet is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, while the GLVC Championships starts Feb. 12.
