INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's tennis team gets a couple of early tests this dual match season, facing Division I opponents Butler and Illinois State on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The Greyhounds (1-0) travel the short distance to the Butler Bubble at 3:00 p.m. Friday to take on the Bulldogs (1-3), a member of the new Big East Conference. UIndy is coming off a commanding
1-0 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan, in which it dropped just two sets across the nine matches.
The Bulldogs have lost three straight, and will be coming off a 9 a.m. match against Southeast Missouri State. Since beating Robert Morris 7-0 to start off the spring season, Butler has dropped matches against Eastern Michigan (0-7), Western Michigan (0-7) and Detroit (1-6).
Within 24 hours the Greyhounds will face another D-I team, hosting the Illinois State Redbirds (1-2) of the Missouri Valley Conference Saturday at the UIndy Tennis Center at 1:00 p.m. The Redbirds bounced back after consecutive losses to open the season against Eastern Illinois (3-4) and Illinois (0-7) to defeat Saint Louis 4-3.
The weekend back-to-back will be the final contests until UIndy opens conference play Feb. 16 against Rockhurst.
