Greyhounds battle Lakers in dual action

Complete results

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Five Greyhounds earned individual wins at the UIndy swimming and diving dual meet at Grand Valley State Saturday.  Though both the men's and women's teams finished behind the host Lakers in the team standings, junior Dawid Rybinski led the Greyhounds with wins in a pair of distance freestyle races.

Rybinski touched first in both the 500 and 1000 free events.  The Wroclaw, Poland native bested Grand Valley's Michael Hudson in both races, recording times of 4:43.50 and 9:40.18, respectively.

Freshman Sean Yeh also got a win for the Greyhound men, putting up a 57.52 in the 100 breaststroke.

For the women, junior Hannah Schuster took gold in the 100 free with a 55.37, while sophomore Agnieszka Malecka won the 100 back with a 59.89.

Meanwhile, senior Tyler Offutt placed second in both diving board heights, scoring 267.37 on the one-meter and 269.02 on the three.

The loss marked the first dual defeat of the season for either team.  The Greyhounds are back at it with a home double dual on Senior Day Saturday, Jan. 24.  GLVC-rival Lewis and Washington (Mo.) will be in town to compete in a 2 p.m. start.
