INDIANAPOLIS- The women's tennis team (0-2) took their second loss of the season Friday against Butler, with the Bulldogs taking the 9-0 win over the host Greyhounds at the UIndy Tennis Center.
Sophomore
Stephanie Hirsch and freshman
Florence Renard took a 9-7 loss in the number one doubles spot against sophomore Kylie Havilan and junior Konstantina Adami of Butler. In the number two spot junior/sophomore duo
Allie Smith and
Selenay Heper lost 8-4 to the Bulldogs' sophomore Kailey Eaton and freshman Bailey Padgett. Also taking an 8-4 loss was senior
Brooke Boyts and junior
Macey Speer as they faced off against senior/freshman pair Angelina Qin and Rachel Sutton of Butler.
In singles play, number one Hirsch took a loss to Padget in three sets with scores of 6-3, 2-6, and 10-8. Also going to three sets was number two Renard and number four Heper. Renard was overcome by the Bulldog's Haviland after taking the first set 6-2, but took losses 4-6 and 10-8 to surrender the point. Â
Heper's match also went to three sets after she lost the first set 4-6 and came back to win the second 6-2. The third ended with Butler's Eaton taking the win 10-8. Smith played number three singles, with Butler's Adami defeating her 6-1 and 6-3. Speer faced off against Qin, but came out on the losing end as Qin took sets 6-4 and 6-3. Taking the sixth singles spot for the Hounds was Boyts as she competed against Butler's Sutton. Sutton won the match 6-2, 6-1.
Next up for the Greyhounds is a Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) matchup with Illinois State at the UIndy Tennis Center at 2:00 p.m.Â
