Greyhounds drop regular season home opener to Rangers

THE DETAILS
Final: UIndy 0  – UW-Parkside 1
Records: UIndy, 1-3 (0-2 GLVC)  || UW-Parkside 2-2 (1-1 GLVC)
Location: Key Stadium, Indianapolis, IN

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's soccer team stepped on the new turf at Key Stadium for the first time in the regular season on Sunday afternoon, taking on GLVC foe Wisconsin-Parkside.

The Greyhounds would control the tempo of the game for large stretches, but weren't able to find the back of the net for the second straight contest, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Rangers.

GAME CHANGER
Wisconsin-Parkside's Lauren Bialas tallied the game's only goal in the 56th minute after taking a pass from Jillian Hetfleisch before beating Greyhound's goalkeeper Emma Crenshaw for her second goal of the year.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Crenshaw was brilliant in net for the Greyhounds, stopping four shots on the day, none more impressive than a save on a Ranger penalty kick in the 19th minute following a foul in the box.

Eight different Greyhounds recorded at least one shot on the day with senior Lindsey Adams finishing with a game-high six attempts, as well as four shots on goal. Junior defender Hannah Mangus jumped in on the attack on more than one occasion, finishing with five shots total.

Ranger goalkeeper Sarah Dobrowski turned in a clean sheet after finishing with eight saves.  The Greyhounds held the advantage in shots (18-10) and corner kicks (5-2) on the day.

HEAR IT FROM THE HOUNDS
Head coach Holly Cox: "We saw today that we can fight back after we give up a goal. Now we have to work on bringing that fight to our opponents before we fall behind. The movement and the desire out on the field is great right now. We just need to work on being more consistent."

"We created some really good opportunities this weekend. The ball just didn't find the net. Sometimes, that's the way things break. We're still working on consistency in that a lot of these kids are still getting used to playing with each other. But we're getting good opportunities, the goals are just eluding us right now."
