INDIANAPOLIS – The 14th-ranked Lewis Flyers visited Ruth Lilly Center Saturday, proving their stripes in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-8) win over the UIndy volleyball team.

The loss drops the Greyhounds to 5-9 overall and 3-3 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action, while the Flyers move to 12-3 (6-0 GLVC).

Saturday's first two sets followed a similar script, as the Hounds and Flyers marched out to identical 7-7 starts in each frame. During both sets, however, Lewis eventually pulled away and kept UIndy at arm's length to claim a 2-0 match advantage.

Through the first two sets, the Greyhounds were hitting .169 (21-11-59) as a team, and had more blocks and digs than their counterparts.

Lewis denied any type of comeback bid with a resounding 25-8 win in set three, hitting a match-high .320 (9-1-25) while racking up four team blocks. The Hounds' attack sputtered during the frame, recording a minus-.185 (5-10-27) percentage.

UIndy was led offensively by senior Shelby Ruffner's six kills and team-high .500 (6-1-10) attacking. Freshman Anna Fehribach delivered seven kills and nine digs, and sophomore Bri Heffernan led the way with 12 digs.

Sophomore setter Maggie Gibson accumulated 22 assists and eight digs.

Lewis finished with seven service aces, and hit .286 as a team as both Aly Schneider and Maddie Seliga totaled 10 kills each.

UIndy has a short turnaround before welcoming in-state and GLVC East Division rival Saint Joseph's to town this upcoming Tuesday, Oct. 4. First serve between the Greyhounds and Pumas is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET in the Ruth Lilly Center.
