Lincoln Blue Tigers (1-6, 0-4) at UIndy Greyhounds (2-5, 1-3)
Saturday, Oct. 22, 6 p.m. ET, Key Stadium
ON TAP
UIndy returns to Key Stadium for three of is final four games, including Saturday's "Family Night" showdown with Lincoln University.
ABOUT LINCOLN
Based in Jefferson City, Mo., the Blue Tigers are enduring a challenging 2016 season. After starting the year with four straight losses, the school decided to make a coaching change, replacing Mike Jones with former outside linebacker coach and now interim head coach Lee Johnson. Jones, a former NFL standout and Super Bowl champ with the St. Louis Rams, finished his tenure with a 8-51 (.136) record in four-plus seasons as the Lincoln head man.
Seeking to end an 18-game losing streak in GLVC play, the Blue Tigers come into the weekend 1-6 overall, with their lone win coming in a 12-9 final versus Division II Lane College Oct. 1. Lincoln is 0-4 in conference this season, with its last and so far only GLVC win coming Sept. 20, 2014 at home versus Quincy.
Along with Southwest Baptist, Lincoln is an associate member of the GLVC, competing in football only. Both teams migrated from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) as part of a Strategic Conference Football Scheduling Alliance between the GLVC and the MIAA starting prior to the 2014 season. Though each school remains full active members of the MIAA in all other sports, the four-year agreement has provided scheduling stability and non-conference flexibility for both conferences in the sport of football.
HOUNDS vs. BLUE TIGERS
UIndy is 3-0 all-time versus Lincoln, with all three wins coming in convincing fashion. Last season, in their first-ever trip to Jefferson City, the Greyhounds earned a
41-18 victory, holding their hosts to zero points and just 56 total yards through three quarters before resting their starters in the fourth.
Running back
Andrew Walker racked up 129 rushing yards and four touchdowns, while All-American
Reece Horn compiled 197 all-purpose yards, including a 92-yard punt return TD.
LAST TIME OUT
UIndy came up on the losing end of a
33-20 final at Quincy last week, falling to the Hawks for the first time in five all-time meetings. The Hounds lost four fumbles on the day – three of which resulted in Quincy touchdowns – while also giving up a season-high 273 rushing yards.
AROUND THE GLVC
Truman remains atop the GLVC standings as the only team still unbeaten in league play. However, the Bulldogs went out of conference last week only to endure a 41-3 loss at undefeated and second-ranked Grand Valley State. The defeat goes down as a region loss for the 'Dogs but improves their strength of schedule, an important part of NCAA playoff consideration.
Meanwhile, Southwest Baptist (4-1) and Missouri S&T (3-1) are just one game back of Truman in the loss column. Both teams put up lofty point totals last week in lopsided wins versus William Jewell and Lincoln, respectively.
Elsewhere, McKendree managed an epic comeback versus Saint Joseph's, scoring 13 points in the final 1:26 of play to clip the Pumas, 20-16.

STANCOMBE'S START
Playing in place of the injured
Jake Purichia, redshirt-freshman
Bryce Stancombe got his first career start at quarterback last weekend. Striking a balance between finding his playmakers and not forcing the issue, the Bloomington, Ind., native finished 22-for-42 passing for an impressive 396 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Stancombe's passing yardage total is good for the seventh-highest sum by a Greyhound since game-by-game stats became available in 1983. See below for a concise list of the top 10.

TRIPLE-TRIPLE
Though just four Greyhounds caught passes from Stancombe last week, three of them racked up receiving yardage totals of 100 or more. Wideouts
Tuwan Payton (182),
Garrett Willis (106) and
Malik Higgins (102) all surpassed triple digits in the category, marking the first time three Hounds had at least 100 receiving yards in the same game since Oct. 25, 2003 when Cesare Manning (131), Travis Zike (130) and Rob Mager (113) all surpassed 100 at Mercyhurst.
RATE OF RETURN
In addition to his career-high receiving yards total at Quincy, Payton compiled 90 kickoff return yards for a total of 272 all-purpose yards. The junior out of New Albany, Ind., is second all-time at UIndy in career kickoff return yards with 1,273 – just 351 shy of the program record of 1,624 set by Ryan Forney in 2012.
PICK 'EM
Last week, junior linebacker
Aaron Bruning became the fifth different Greyhound to record an interception this season. Bruning's first career pick came in the first quarter at Quincy, setting up the Greyhounds' first touchdown.
Defensive backs
Zach Hiss and
Robert Williams have also garnered their first collegiate interception this season.
HOMELAND SECURITY
The Hounds are happy to return home this week, as they have amassed an impressive 30-6 (.833) record at Key Stadium since Head Coach
Bob Bartolomeo took over in 2010. That span includes a 16-1 record versus GLVC competition.
STRETCH RUN
If Key Stadium remains friendly, it could mean a strong finish to the 2016 season for the Hounds, as three of their final four games will come at home. Heading into the weekend with a 2-5 overall mark, the Hounds will need to win out to ensure a winning season. Coach Bart has finished .500 or better in each of his first eight seasons as a college head coach.
ALL ABOUT TACKLES
Senior linebackers
Derrick Bryant and
Rob Dury are both on track to hit 100 total tackles this season, possibly even this week. Bryant and Dury are 14 and 15 tackles, respectively, away for the milestone. Both rank in the top 10 in Division II in tackles per game, with Bryant (12.3) at No. 5 and Dury (12.1) ranked sixth.
The last time UIndy had two defenders with 100 tackles or more came in 2012 when Max Davis and Todd Hacker both had 100-plus. Last season saw Dury (100) and Bryant (99) collectively come one tackle short of repeating the feat.
Dury is looking to become the first Greyhound since the aforementioned Davis to have three consecutive 100-tackle campaigns.
In addition, Dury is nearing the UIndy career top 10 in tackles. He enters the weekend with 352 career stops, good for 11th all-time among Greyhounds. Hitting his average of 12 tackles Saturday would vault him to eighth. Former All-American Ted Liette (1995-98) is the all-time leader at 619. No other Hound has more than 500.
NATIONAL EXPOSURE
Later this season, UIndy will play in front of a national audience when the Hounds host William Jewell Saturday, Oct. 29. As part of the 22-game NCAA Division II Football Showcase, the contest will be shown live on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN app.
The last time the Greyhound played on national TV came in 2014 in the CBS Sports Network NCAA Division II Football Game of the Week. In a meeting of in-state rivals, UIndy pulled out a thrilling four-overtime win versus Saint Joseph's when senior kicker Scott Miller delivered a game-winning 35-yard field goal in the 36-33 victory.
