SOMERS, Wis. – The Greyhound men's soccer team opened up the final weekend of the regular season with a rare Friday afternoon showdown against the Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside.

The Greyhound defense limited the host's chances all afternoon, keeping the Rangers off the scoreboard. However, the UIndy offense was able to generate just one shot on goal, settling for a scoreless draw.

GAME CHANGER
The Rangers' best chance to jump out in front came in the 69th minute when Abraham Kanneh fought through a pair of defenders for a loose ball and ripped a shot from just outside the 18-yard box. But UIndy goalkeeper Miles Palmer was in perfect position to soak up the shot on goal, keeping the game tied.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-UIndy had a pair of quality chances early on, the first coming on a Jake Meyer shot that went just high of the cage. Less than a minute later, James Jenkins' attempt from just inside the 18-yard box was turned aside by UWP goalkeeper Remi Bibal, the lone shot on goal of the match for UIndy.

-UIndy came out firing on the attack to open up the first overtime period. Jake Meyer had a pair of chances in the 93rd minute that just went wide right. Ben Rohder had an attempt in tight in the 94th minute that he put just over the crossbar.

-Shots attempts were 11-7 in favor of the Greyhounds with Meyer leading all players with four shots. Miles Palmer stopped all five shots on goal he faced to earn his fifth clean sheet of the year.

-Corner kicks were 12-5 in favor of the Rangers, who were stifled by the Greyhound defense each time they lined up for a set play.

-The draw moves UIndy to 5-4-4 in GLVC play with two games left in the regular season. The Greyhounds are currently seventh in the league, one game ahead of Maryville and one game behind Quincy for sixth.

COACHES' CORNER
Head coach John Higgins: "I thought today was a really good result for us playing away from home. This is a really tough place to paly and the field conditions and wind didn't really allow us to play the game we wanted to. So it was a great effort from our guys and I thought we really showed great resolve today."

"We defended with real character and we won a lot of individual battles. I thought we played the conditions really well in the second half and created enough chances to give ourselves a chance to win. Unfortunately, we couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. Our task now is to regroup and get ready for a big game Sunday. It's not just big because of the implications for the conference tournament, but we want to send our seniors out the right way."

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will play their final home match of the regular season on Sunday afternoon, taking on the Lewis Flyers on Senior Day. Kickoff from Key Stadium is set for 2:30 p.m.
